Wow, it really doesn't take long for the spammers to start on a new blog...
This has been up like two weeks and I have 20 new comments on one of my posts today!
Unfortunately they were all recommending I buy my medication from a surprisingly reasonably priced website...
After bookmarking it for later I set away figuring out how to block the spam and from my (very limited) research it appears Akismet is the way to go.
It really did take me around 10 minutes to implement, and it appears to be working... (until the spammers see this post... hmph)
Basically go apply for a personal wordpress key, and once you have that use the PHP5 Akismet library to make all of your spam troubles go away.
My blog system doesn't actually allow me to tag things as spam so right now it just rejects them. If you comment (unlikely) and my spam filter is misconfigured (more likely) send me an email at this address (behind captcha, not going to get my email address that easily spammers!)
